A Legacy of Family Photography: Thirty-Two Years Photographing Brisbane Families

January has a way of asking us to reflect.

The rush of December fades. The house grows quieter. The calendar gives us a little breathing room. And in that pause, there’s space to notice what’s been — and what’s still unfolding.

This January, that pause brought something into sharp focus for me: I’ve been photographing families for thirty-two years.

Not in a blink. Not all at once. But slowly, carefully, one family at a time. And I couldn’t have done it without you my beautiful families!

Thirty-two years behind the lens

Thirty-two years of knocking on front doors.
Of being welcomed into living rooms filled with toys, half-packed school bags, and the hum of everyday life.

Thirty-two years of tiny babies placed gently into my hands.
Of parents hovering close, tired and full-hearted.

I’ve watched children grow into teenagers.
Teenagers grow into adults.
And, in some cases, those adults bring their own children back to me.

That kind of continuity is rare.
And it is never lost on me.

Made possible by you

This work has always been built on trust.

Trust that I’ll see what matters.
Trust that I’ll handle your stories with care.
Trust that the ordinary moments — the ones that don’t feel special yet — are worth remembering.

Without the families who chose me, and chose me again as life changed shape, this work simply wouldn’t exist.

I truly couldn’t have done this without you.

Thank you for welcoming me into your homes.
For letting me witness your people.
For allowing me to document your milestones, your transitions, and your everyday life exactly as it is.

A year that invites movement

As we move further into the year, there’s a different kind of energy stirring.

From February, we enter the Year of the Fire Horse — a year often associated with momentum, courage, and forward movement.

It’s a year that reminds us that life keeps moving.
Children grow.
Families shift.
Seasons change.

Photography has always been my way of gently pressing pause.
Of saying, this matters now.
Before the moment slips quietly into memory.

An invitation for the year ahead

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photographs — capturing your children as they are today, or honouring a season that feels fleeting — January is a beautiful time to do it.

Photographs that feel human.
Grounded.
True to who you are — not just what you do.

Holding onto what matters

One day, these moments won’t feel ordinary.
They’ll feel precious.

And I will always be grateful to the families who let me help hold onto them.

If you’d like to talk about a family session or corporate photography this year, you’re warmly invited to get in touch.
