Many of you may know the story of my daughter Dulcie, who was diagnosed with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease when she was in utero, at 33 weeks gestation. After a rocky start, we are so pleased to report that she is doing incredibly well. We’ve had only 2 appointments so far at the amazing Royal Children’s Hospital, and are not required to go back for any more ultrasounds (to check if there’s any changes or growth on her kidneys) until the new year. This little one is a fighter! At this point in time we are merely monitoring her condition; she does not require any medication or any other treatments. This is a far cry from what we expected we would face with her prior to her birth.
After a few months at home, focusing soley on our family, I’m pleased to be back with my wonderful team in Hawthorn (just a couple of days each week!), who have looked after me so incredibly well. Without the love and support of everyone at Katrina Christ Photographer, this period of my life could have been far more difficult to cope with. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Big kisses also go out to all of our lovely clients who sent so many wishes and prayers our way. I am so blessed to work in an industry that has allowed me to develop such real and wonderful relationships with my clients. Again, just knowing we were in the thoughts of others helped us keep pushing on through some very trying days.
Our wonderful photographer Donna came to our home for a very special shoot when Dulcie was 5 weeks old. She is such a wee little poppet in this image (her corrected age at this point in time was just under two weeks). Despite her size, I still revel in her fighting spirit. I know that Dulcie and I are like minded souls and she has an inner strength that will get her through any challenges the world may throw her way.
I can’t wait to share with you all the images of Dulcie as she continues to grow and mark off countless milestones. She is facing a very special life ahead.
