Where Time, Trust, & Family Stories Meet — 32 Years of Heartfelt Black & White Photography

This year marks 32 years of photographing families, and it’s a milestone that feels both humbling and deeply emotional.

For more than three decades, I’ve been welcomed into homes, hospitals, gardens, beaches, and backyards. I’ve witnessed the quiet moments and the joyful chaos — tiny newborns curled into their parents’ arms, toddlers bursting with personality, children growing into confident young adults, and families expanding into new generations.

Family photography isn’t just about capturing faces. It’s about documenting life as it unfolds.

Being Invited Back, Again and Again

One of the greatest privileges of my work is photographing families who return to me year after year. I meet them during one chapter of life, and then again as their story grows.

I photograph:

  • First babies… then second and third
  • Children who once needed to be carried, now standing taller than their parents
  • Parents who become grandparents

That continuity is everything to me. It’s what turns photography into legacy work — images that don’t just sit on walls, but become part of a family’s history.

A Story That Spans Decades

One family that beautifully represents this journey is Dr Andrew Orr and his family.

I first met Andrew over twenty-six years ago, when I turned to him for support through acupuncture and Chinese medicine as I prepared to give birth to my second child. Over the years, Andrew has continued to support me — including helping guide me through menopause (with a little fear along the way!).

Alongside that personal connection, I’ve had the honour of photographing his family as their lives unfolded — documenting milestones, growth, and the quiet strength of family bonds.

Today, Andrew has helped bring more than 10,000 babies into the world and is recognised as one of Australia’s leading specialists in reproductive medicine and women’s health. To witness his professional impact while also documenting his family’s personal story has been incredibly special.

Why This Work Still Matters to Me

After 32 years, I can honestly say this work has never lost its meaning.

Family photography matters because:

  • Memories fade, photographs don’t
  • Children grow faster than we ever expect
  • Ordinary moments become extraordinary with time

Every session is a reminder that there is no such thing as a perfect family — only real ones. And it’s the laughter, the connection, the love, and yes, even the chaos, that make these photographs timeless.

With Gratitude

To every family who has trusted me with their story — whether once or over many years — thank you.

Thank you for welcoming me into your lives.
Thank you for returning, referring, and sharing your experiences.
Thank you for allowing me to document not just milestones, but everyday love.

This journey wouldn’t exist without you.

Here’s to 32 years of families, and to many more stories still waiting to be told. 🤍
