As I look at this image, I cannot help but think of my own relationship with my dad when I was roughly the same age. As an only child, I guess I was rather special to my mum and dad and I was certainly daddy’s little girl! I thought my dad was like a hero – fun, super strong and capable of anything and everything. Of course I loved my mum but it was dad who could crack a walnut in his bare hands…wow!! Luckily for me, I even have a photograph of dad and I cracking walnuts and me clearly thinking it was all a giggle and dad was just too strong for my little hands. I guess I am lucky to have that photograph. It shows a time, all too brief it seems, when I was completely dependent on mum & dad and the love they clearly lavished me with. I feel really sorry for people who don’t have at least some photographic memory of when they were a child, with their family.
